Wäre, First Day at School

Every autumn little schoolchildren prepare to a significant event - the first day at school. A safe school journey has been learned together with an adult and a new rucksack is waiting to be put on the back. Yet many questions keep the schoolchild's mind occupied: What's the teacher like? Will I get new friends? Where is the school's toilet? How do I manage in the dining hall? Do I have to be able to read already? With the help of this book the child can, together with an adult, go through the questions and thoughts that the beginning of school awakes. The aim of the book is to make the child feel safe and confident when starting school as well as to support the start of cooperation between home and school. At the end of the book there is a letter for parents including information about the Finnish school system today and about the ways that parents can support and facilitate the child's and the whole family's adaptation to the new period in life.
